Water and electricity shocks for Windhoek Friday 9th of June 2006 Electricity goes up 15 % for units used and 8 % up on pre-payment sales, the Windhoek city council decided Wednesday. Electricity increases still need approval from the Electricity Control Board (ECB), Dr Björn von Finckenstein said at the meeting. The basic charge will remain the same. Water tariffs will be staggered depending on the water used. NamWater increased the bulk purchase price with 11.5 % in April and Windhoek has adjusted the price increases with 10% on basic charges, 10% on water consumption and 10% on sewerage. Refuse removal goes up by 8 percent. Assessment rates increase by 8 percent as well. |
