Right: Chief Munjuku Nguvauva (photo) will lead the commemoration of the Ovambanderu people of eastern Namibia at Okahandja this weekend. Hundreds of them will flock to Okahandja to remember Chief Kahimemua Munjuku, who was executed at the town by the German colonial government on 11 June 1896. Kahimemua rose against the Germans after conflicts arose with them where the border of Hereroland and "German territory" was. Kahimemua was defeated near Gobabis, brought to Okahandja and sentenced to death by a German martial court. Kahimemua’s grandson is the present Ovambanderu Chief Munjuku. Photo: Brigitte Weidlich
