Joe Mazeingo dies

Joseph Vatanavi Mazeingo, 54, the MD of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor), died last Friday in the Roman Catholic Hospital after a long illness.- First he was hospitralised from 23 to 30 April and then again since 24 May. He is survived by his wife and seven children. - For the past nine years, Mr Mazeingo was at the helm of Namcor. He was also a former acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Informed sources said that a funeral service will be held on Saturday in Ovitoto.- The late Mr Mazeingo started as a clerk at Standard Bank in 1979 and later moved to Shell Namibia, where he moved through a number of positions, until in 1996 he joined the Ministry of Mines and Energy as an acting PC before he was appointed as Managing Director at Namcor in 1997. - He was the Chairman of the NamGem Diamond Manufacturing Company and the Namdeb Mamagement Committee. And he served on the Diamond Board of Namibia, the National Energy Council of Namibia and the Association of Petroleum Negotiators.
