The water reclamation plant of the Goreangab dam in the northwestern outskirts of Windhoek received the acclaimed ISO 9001 international standard certification this week. It is the first company in the water sector in Namibia to achieve this safety and technical certification. Wingoc, a joint venture with a German company and the City of Windhoek, runs the plant. According to Dr Gerald Leopold, board chairman of Wingoc, who flew out from Germany to attend the event, it needed lots of additional efforts to develop an appropriate structure and documentation of all the processes and a motivated Wingoc team.

"This ISO certificate now guarantees all processes and documentation as well as the daily operation of the plant to be in line with international standards and best practice", Leopold said, "it gives additional comfort that Wingoc is strictly committed to a high quality of its services". Berliner Wasserwerke is the German shareholder in Wingoc.
