Waldorf School Windhoek represents Namibia at the UNESCO World Youth Festival in Stuttgart

(ipo) As a worldwide very special Waldorf School, the grades 9 and 10 of the Waldorf School Windhoek with their drum group „Hit the Beat" are invited to the „UNESCO World Youth Festival Stuttgart 2006".

Together with their teachers Simone de Picciotto and Erasmus Spitta our 22 students are looking forward to an adventural and exciting journey.

Invited by the UNESCO, 2006 students from all over the world come together in the german city of Stuttgart to celebrate the festival of the cultures and for peace under the motto „A time to make friends". Approximately 10.000 people are expected to join the festival.

The namibian students with their drum group will entertain with drumming and as well organize a drum workshop. They will also experience german culture, work in school projects and join a sport competition for the Guinness Book of Records.

All costs, like flights, accommodation and others are sponsored by the UNESCO, while our namibian students will be staying in german families.

After the festival in Stuttgart, the 300 Waldorf students from all over the world are travelling to the lake of Konstanz where the Waldorf School Ueberlingen is holding an international youth festival.

Coming back to Namibia, out students will welcome a group of german students who come to Namibia and help in a social building projects.

The grades 9 and 10 of the Waldorf School Windhoek are flying to Germany at Friday, 30. June, and come back to Namibia on the 18. July 2006.
