On Saturday, 24 June 2006 the SKW Gymnastics Academy held its annual Club Competition in Rhythmic Gymnastics. It marked the start of the rhythmic gymnastics season and could be seen as a test run for more than 60 gymnasts aged 6 to 16 years. Each gymnast danced two routines with different apparatus, namely rope, hoop, clubs ball, ribbon or a dance without hand apparatus. Some remarkable performances could be seen.

Even more remarkable was the performance of 13 year old Nicole Bierbach of the SKW Gymnastics Academy who competed in the International Pax Competition in Aalsmeer, Netherlands on 24 July. In the junior category she came 5th out of 20 gymnasts from 6 different nations.

SKW Gymnastics Academy will now host the National Qualifying Competition on 21 July and send a team of about 20 gymnasts to the Tuks Competition in Pretoria on 28 July 2006.
