The Namibia National Surfing Championship was held after a three week waiting period for the biggest and best surf and conditions to pull in at the famous internationally known surf spot Guns, just north of Walvis Bay. This happened on the 12th of July 2006. The waves were perfect and some high scores were marked up. The winners were Open Surfing: 1st Torsten Gossow; 2nd Bernd Diener 3rd Dirk Redman and 4th Bo Alfheim. Body boarding was won by Shaun Loubser with Tyrone Kotze 2nd and Carlos Figueiredo 3rd. Womens surfing was won by Heidi Currie and the wave of the day by Bernd Diener who scored a "9".
