21 teams, 8 Ladies-, 8 Youth- and 5 Men teams participated last Saturday at the DTS-NHP Beach Volleyball Tournament, the 3rd tournament of a series of six for the year 2006. Spectators saw exiting and nailbiting matches, especially in the ladies competition. Both the number 1 and 2 seeded teams, Wiebke Hoeritzauer/Antje Kesselmann and Thepolina Shikulu/Maria Shikongo lost their second match against the number 3 and 4 seeded teams of Selma Nahambo/Martha Andreas and Karin Curschmann/Anita Kinder respective-ly. The top 2 teams had to fight their way through the the losers round and both teams managed to still reach the final. Hoeritzauer/Kesselmann proved once again why they are the number 1 Namibian ladies team since 2 years by beating Shikulu/Shikongo in the final 22-20, 21-15. Third place went to Curschmann/Kinder and fourth Nahambo/Andreas.

The Youth competition saw the number 1 seeded team Viggo von Schelia/Helmo Minz playing against the number 3 seeded team Hanjo Kubisch/Reiner Engberts in the final. After a dramatic 23-21 victory for the number 1 seeded team in the first set, they managed to win the second set easily 21-11. The playoff game for third/fourth was won by fifth seeded team of Filepus Nghikofa/Michael Mulunga against the brother/sister team of Bernhard and Olga Grosse-Weschede, who were seeded fourth.

The men played a round robin competition and at the end of the day Joseph Amakali with his partner Rehabeam Hengari won with Deon Cloete/Michael de Koe in second place. Third was John Beukes/Jerome.
