Gas power plant for Walvis Bay Saturday 22nd of July 2006 NamPower plans an open-cycle gas-turbine plant (OCGT) in its existing Paratus power station, near Walvis Bay, according to the weekly Engineering news. NamPower issued a tender inviting suppliers to submit proposals for the supply, delivery, instal-lation and commissioning of the OCGT plant, which will operate on week days only with six full-load operating hours a day to deliver 22 to 27 mega watt MW. Most of the power generated will be supplied to Walvis Bay, but two of the 66-kV lines will transport power into the Namibian grid. - After 2010, Namibia will have additio-nal new capacity through transmission interconnector lines from Zambia and Zimbabwe, and the 800-MW Kudu gas-to-power project. |
