As in previous years table tennis equipment to the value of N$ 15 000,00 was handed over by the Charge d’Affaires a.i., Ms Ute König, on Wednesday, 26 July 2006 at the Nampower Convention Centre as a donation by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Namibian Table Tennis Association.

Within the framework of the programme "promotion of sport in overseas countries", the German Olympic Sports Confederation (former National Olympic Committee) in co-operation with the Federal Foreign Office has assigned a table tennis coach to Namibia for two weeks. The expert, Mr. Wieland Speer, at present hosts workshops for mainly young Namibian table tennis players in Swakopmund and Windhoek.

These workshops form the continuation of long standing co-operation between the German and the Namibian table tennis associations. Workshops were conducted annually during the last few years.

The Namibian national team and the Namibian national senior team both participated in the world championships in Bremen in 2006.
