The Mayoral Cup Soccer Tournament that took place from 29 -30 July 2006 was a great success with hundreds of people coming to watch their favorite teams playing. Six teams participated, namely, Ocean Eagles, Desert Child, Brave Defenders, Dream Team, Taliban FC and Damara 7. Here we see the Mayor and the two captains before kick-off of the final.

The final was contested between Ocean Eagles and Desert Child and the former walked away with the floating trophy and N$1000,00 while the loser walked away with N$500,00, while Brave Defenders and Dream Team earned N$250,00 each for losing during the semi-finals. Here the Mayor joined the winning team.
