ak. Last weekend the Catholic Convent Windhoek celebrated its 100th Anniversary. The open day enjoyed great popularity with pupils and their parents alike, as well as the invited ex-pupils. The pupils of the Convent performed Franz of Assisi and an exhibition depicting the history of the Convent also attracted a lot of attention. At the final ceremonial act on Saturday, 16 September 2006 most of the speeches referred to the high standard of education the private school of the Convent has always retained. Approximately 300 guests, among them Nangolo Mbumba, Minister of Education took part at the ceremonial act where sister Francis Grogan, mother superior of the Holy-Cross-Sisters in Southern Africa looked back upon 100 years of excellent education, service and commitment. The aim of the Convent, which started teaching in 1906, is to administer a better quality education and to enhance school education for children in Namibia.
