A team of 33 rhythmic gymnasts representing the Namibian Gymnastics Federation NGF will travel to South Africa this week to participate in the SA Games from 20 – 26 September in Cape Town.

The team comprises of 25 gymnasts from SKW Gymnastics Academy in Windhoek, 5 from Walvis Bay and 1 each from Ocean View Gymnastics Club in Swakopmund and Tsumeb Gymnastics Club. They will be accompanied by 6 officials, including one team manager, judges and coaches. The SA Games host the National South African Championships for the individual competition levels 4 – 8 as well as groups.

Furthermore the South African Gymnastics Federation arranged a Qualifying Competition for the South African top rhythmic gymnasts ahead of the African Championships that will take place in November this year at exactly the same venue. That is one of the reasons why the SKW Gymnastics Academy decided to send the two top juniors in Namibia, Nicole Bierbach und Mirja Stoldt, to that competition. They will have the opportunity to compete against some of the best rhythmic gymnasts in Africa, among them the current African Champion in the Junior Olympic category, Silvongele Mjekula (RSA) - and Odette Richards (RSA-seniors).
