ak. The language competition of the "Namibisch-Deutsche Stiftung" (NaDS) and the Goethe-Centre celebrated its 20th anniversary. Every year Namibian pupils, who study German as a second or third foreign language, are rivalling against each other with German vocabularies and grammar. On the occasion of the birthday a big Braaivleis took place after the examination and the prize giving ceremony.

This time 140 pupils from 25 Namibian schools took part in the written examinations. The 60 best were selected by a jury and invited to take part in an oral exam at the Goethe-Centre on Saturday, 23 September 2006. The main prize was a flight to Germany and a four-week stay at a host family for the five best candidates, sponsored by the NaDS and the "Pädagogischer Austauschdienst" (pedagogic exchange). Besides this main prize, dictionaries, cash prizes, Goethe-T-Shirts, Goethe-Cups, CD’s and radios were distributed. All other participants received consolation prizes, such as radios, bags, clocks, CD’s and sweets.
