The 5th and final League round of the National Fistball league was played this weekend at the SKW sport field, with all to play for in both the National ‘ A’ and ‘B’ league.

In the National ‘ A’ league, SKW 1 were the favourites to clinch the title, they had to win all games, with the last game of day against their own second team, who could still snatch the title. And SKW 1 made sure of this by winning all games and been crowned new League Champion, with Michael Baas winning now his 15th National league title.

The surprise of day, was however the strong performance by Swakop. They only lost against the new Champions and won all other games, and the surprise, also against SKW 2, the other title contender to claim against all odds, the second spot in the league standings.

Cohen 3 had the difficult task to win at least once against SKW 4, the all ladies team, they coming back from Europe oozing with confidence after the brilliant performance at the World Championships. And the game was a nail baiter from start to finish, with Cohen edging out the ladies team, mainly through the stronger spiking. With this win, Cohen 3 claimed the National ‘B’ league title for 2006.

In the under 18 league, SKW already assured of their title, and made sure to stay the only unbeaten team for the whole season and claiming this title for the first time.

The strong development work done by Cohen, won them the first ever under 14 title, with 5 teams participating.

The next event will be the National Club Championships on 14 October, hosted by DTS.
