ak. From 25 September until 11 October 2006 the Namibian artist Rixi Appel displays her new pictures at the Cafès des Arts at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre. Her first solo exhibition is dedicated to her youngest son who died some months ago. Most of the pictures depict portraits of Himba women and men painted in oil-colours. While she was focusing on this kind of picture for a long time, Rixi Appel has in the meantime also tried other techniques and motives, such as landscapes.
