Ramblers
Dear members
It has been a while since we have last published a newsletter in the PLUS. The Executive Committee has decided to introduce this way of communication again due to demand and from now we will publish the “Ramblers News” in the PLUS every second week.
OLD BOYS SOCCER
Our Old Boys with their families had their annual year-end function at the beginning of December at the Oanob Dam. More than 30 persons had a weekend full of fun with water-skiing and tube rides on the dam. We want to say “Thank you” to Harald Preschel for the organization and making use of his speed-boat. This was a perfect way to celebrate the end of a successful year for the Ramblers Old Boys. After a successful tour to Germany during the World Cup 2006, they won this year the Old Boys League, the Horsti Pietzsch Cup as well as the under 40 section of the 5-a side tournament in Otavi. “Auf geht’s Ramblers, schieß ein Tor”
ANNUAL XMAS CUP IN SWAKOPMUND
Our Old Boys will enter this coming weekend a team in the 5-a side tournament in Swakopmund. The Xmas Cup will be held from the 27 to 30 December 2006 and Ramblers Old Boys will play this year under the name “Ramblers Strikers”. We wish them for both tournaments the best of luck and a save journey.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Our Premier League side under the auspices of Tollie van Wyk and Dave Fransman had a good start into the campaign of the 2006/2007 season. Ramblers drew the first two matches 2-2  vs Golden Bees in Outjo and 1-1 Oshakati City in Oshakati respectively.
At the end of November Ramblers beat SKW in a tensed derby 2 – 0, goals scored by “Lollipop” Awaseb and a superb free-kick converted by Michael Pienaar. The last match of the year was versus African Stars and was won by a solitary goal scored by Hafeni. This means that Ramblers are log-leaders with 8 points after four matches played. Well done guys, you make us proud. After the short Christmas break the league will continue with a match versus Orlando Pirates to be played on Friday 12 January 2007.
BRAVE WARRIORS
In the absence of former Ramblers striker Henrico Botes as captain of the national team, our own skipper Michael Pienaar took over the captaincy of the Brave Warriors. Keep the spirit up, Michael!
NEW SOCCER-FIELD
Our new soccer-field is nearly completed and the ExCo would like to thank everybody for their input the last 18 months since we started this project.  It is hard to imagine that in early 2005 this was an area of sand, weed and grass. We can all be proud of our achievement.
BAR MANAGER
On a rather sad note we have to come to terms that our barman Albert Nakale will not be returning to the club. Albert has been in hospital since early Novem-ber 2006 and will go on retirement once dismissed from there. He has been a loyal and dedicated barman for the last 16 years and his forever good mood gave us very often good laughs.
Tate Ali, baie, baie dankie vir jou goeie diens, ons sal vir jou mis. Alles van die beste.
V.I.P. JACKPOT
The jackpot today (15 December) stands at a whooping N$ 750. If not claimed tonight, we will continue on Friday 12 January 2007 with N$ 900.

CLUB OPENING DURING DECEMBER 2006 AND JANUARY 2007
The club will be closed as from Saturday 16 December 2006 and will be open again as from Wednesday 10 January 2007.
We wish all our members a safe and joyous Christmas and a happy New Year.
Unseren Mitgliedern wünschen wir allen ein frohes Weihnachtsfest und einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr.
Ons wens al ons lede  n’ geseende Kersfees en n’ voorspoedige Nuwe Jaar.
