Saturday 27th of January 2007 (DK/Fe) - On Thursday, NAFAU handed a petition to O&L, demanding inter alia that all employees of Windhoek Schlachterei be taken over by the newly structured Schlachterei „without applying for any job“. The petition also demanded „an end of dumping workers into the street“ (NAFAU complained that some 950 workers have lost their O & L jobs since 2004 and „we demand an end to the poor Management of O & L Group of subsidiaries“. Said NAFAU: „The current restructuring process at Windhoek Schlachterei is a hidden agenda aimed at getting rid of our Union‘s President and nothing else“. And: Industrial peace shall not reign supreme in our labour market if some of these stubborn employers are allowed to continue with some of their destructive policies.Picture: Udo Stritter, Vice Chairman of the Ohlthaver & List Group, received the petition from Florence Rukata (NAFAU-treasurers). Stritter stressed that “we will study the contents of the petition. You can rest assured that we will respond to the issues raised therein. O & L stands for Job creation, economic development, adding value to Namibian resources, social peace and industrial harmony”. O & L supports the developing goals of the nation, including vision 2030, Stritter said. - |
