Officially welcoming Director of Sport in the Ministry for Basic Education, Sport and Culture, Fritz Brisley to the launch of Ramblers Striders, "Sny" Snyman introduced the latest "move of Ramblers into the Athletics field": Ramblers Striders, who already consist of 25 members and have written some great achievements behind their names. He thanked the sponsors who support this new code, and hande prizes to the different winners of the inaugural competition between Hockey and Striders. A Floating Trophy was introduced, which will be at stake annually... on each 1st of April. This time the Smarties won the trophy. Guest speaker Fritz Brisley lauded the „first walking club where all, even old crocks can be involved". He said that there was a need for such a facility. Sport was invented for enjoyment, but the world has changed: „Everything revolves around money, a professional carreer - just look at the Bid for Beckham". Sport is a must in today‘s world, „an ingredient of our daily life". To improve your performance (compete against yourself) is sometimes more important than winning a medal.And one should learn to be humble. Said Brisley: „A walker never stops training; and anny individual at any age can participate in it... Let‘s develop a culture of walking - rather than use vehicles." And then the Director urged the members to make use of the Club.

After the official part was over, the party really started with lots of delicacies and music by Ingolf & Karla. Well done, Ramblers Striders!!
