Cabinet granted permission to the Khomas Regional Council to host a conference of Governors and Mayors of Africa and Latin America from 14 to 16 May 2007. The theme of the conference is Strategic partnerships between Africa and Latin America towards the promotion of social, economic, political and cultural cooperation.
This follows a first meeting, attended by the Regional Governor of Khomas, Hon. Sophia Shaningwa, in November 2005 in Caracas, Venezuela. Together with the Ministry of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development, the Khomas Regional Council has formed a preparatory committee, which will see to all the arrangements.
