Saturday, 3 March saw the official opening of the Tsumeb Archery Club. The event was held on the brand new 14 lane range set between the most beautiful scenery at the Schützenverein shooting range. All the participants agreed that although the range was difficult, they enjoyed the challenge. 20 Archers from all over Namibia pitched up for this first ever event in Tsumeb.
The first day of shooting (field round) was handicapped by rain, but the archers stuck to their bows and 11 finished the course.
On the second day (hunters round) of shooting we could clearly see what influence the weather had on the archers, as there was a drastic increase in the averages from the previous day. Some of the shooters could not finish the first day due to damages to the arrows.
With the opening of the Tsumeb Archery Club, Tsumeb Schützenverein proved to be a valuable partner in organizing such an event. We would like to thank every archer who participated in this event - YOU made it a huge success.
We have been selected by the A.A.N. (Archery Association Namibia) to host the nationals on 9 and 10 June 2007.
This means that over 40 archers will grace us with their presence and we will definitely work in partnership with the Schützenverein to host an even more successful event.
