First InLine-Hockey Tournament 2007 Friday 16th of March 2007 With five official NIIHA tournaments per year being played, the Badgers’ club in Windhoek is kicking off this year’s season with an action-packed weekend. As the 2007 IIHF World Championships are being contested earlier than usual, there are only two tournaments being held locally before Team Namibia 2007 is leaving for it’s overseas adventure in mid-May. back Members of the Badgers club have worked hard to make this tournament a success. With an overall 72 games being played, spectators can expect good sportsmanship and exciting contests. The Namibian players are eager to show their improved level of play. The tournament will start on Thursday afternoon between the Windhoek clubs to allow the players in all age divisions to compete in the season’s first tournament. During this tournament, NIIHA has decided to play 3x12 minute games in the Ladies and Open divisions instead of the usual 2x12 minutes to comply more closely with international competition rules. Team Namibia 2007 will take up a challenge from an “All-Star” team on Friday night at 20h00 at the Windhoek show grounds. This will allow Team Namibia to test their level of play and give Namibian fans the chance to see these young talents in action before they have to prove their metal overseas. Given the above, NIIHA would like to formally invite interested media and donors to this first and very important in-line hockey tournament of the 2007 hockey season. We greatly appreciated the support provided to NIIHA by the media and sponsors last season, and are looking forward to an even more exciting and productive in-line hockey season for 2007. |
