More German equipment aid for NDF Friday 16th of March 2007 After the successful completion of the pilot phase, the implementation of an ‘Integrated Logistics System’ (ILS) which was launched in 2003, roll out phase 1 is due to be started this month. back The aim is to equip 150 pc work stations country-wide with the necessary hard- and software for the running of a logistical system. For this reason 150 Microsoft licences and 50 SAP R/3 licences were purchased initially. The SAP R/3 modules make the handling of all logistical processes such as material control, maintenance procedures and financial matters possible. The provision for the ILS includes the setting up of a data base in Leopard’s Valley, the fitting out of two lecture halls at the military school in Osona and of the training of the operators. The value of the pilot phase including the hardware, the software and the training totals N$10 Mio. Roll out phase 1 provides for the extension of 75 pc work stations at specific locations of the NDF until end of September 2007. This also entailed the purchase of 75 additional SAP R/3 modules to the value of N$1,3 Mio. This project will be carried out by ‘Logical Networks’. The cost of roll out phase 1 will total around N$2,8 Mio. Roll out phase 2 provides for the setting up of additional 25 work stations in the same manner. Equipment aid to the NDF for the period 2005 to 2008 will amount to a total of around N$20 Mio. The official signing of the new agreement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr Petrus Shivute and LTC Lammel on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Defence is scheduled for Monday, 19 March 2007 at 15:00 at ‘Bastion 1’, Sam Nujoma Drive. The ambassador, Arne Freiherr von Kittlitz will also attend. |
