Another March to Zim-High Commission Friday 16th of March 2007 MISA is dismayed and horrified at the brutality displayed by the Zimbabwean government over their crack-down on freedom of expression and assembly. Even more horrifying is the deafening silence from SADC governments in the wake of the most brutal arrests and torture of members of the media and civil society gathered for a prayer meeting on Sunday, 11 March, 2007, leaving one person dead. back MISA, in partnership with the Namibian civil society, calls on Namibian people from all walks of life to join a peaceful march to the Zimbabwean Embassy in Windhoek and stand up against the atrocities in Zimbabwe and silence on the part of the Namibian government. Protesters should convene at the Kudu (corner of Independence Ave. and John Meinert St.) at 9:30am, Friday the 16th of March, 2007, after which we will march to the Zimbabwean Embassy (opposite Sentra Super-market in Independence Ave.) to present a petition. Protesters will then march to the Namibian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Parliament building to deliver a second petition condeming the Namibian government’s silence, and its refusal to condemn the brutality. MISA thanks the Namibian Police for their expedient response in granting permission for the march.
