Saturday 28th of April 2007 The MISA Namibia office will be closed as from the 2nd to the 4th of May due to the fact that we will be in Swakopmund for the World Press Freedom Day celebrations. We will open our doors again on the 7th May 2007. back World Press Freedom Day is a day designated by the United Nations to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and to remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression enshrined under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Throughout the world, World Press Freedom Day serves as an occasion to inform the public of violations of freedom of expression - a reminder that in dozens of countries, media organisations are censored, fined, suspended and closed down, while journalists are harassed, attacked, detained or killed. MISA Namibia invites everyone to be part of this important day!!! |
