The Gobabis RAU held a very successful farmers day on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 which was part of the NAU’s attempt to make management available for further introduction to farmers on regional and local level.
The following speakers were at the farmers day at Gobabis: the president of the NAU, Mr Raimar von Hase, the chairman of the LPO, Mr Ryno van der Merwe, the chairman of the AEA, Mr Helmut Förtsch as well as the chairman of the Charcoal Producers Association, Mr Willem Enslin. The other speaker was Mr Robert Schultz of the DRFN who gave more information about the “Bush-to-Energy” project where the NAU is also involved.
According to the chairman of the Gobabis RAU, Mr Kay-Dieter Rumpf the farmer’s day met his expectations and gave the opportunity to get to know the management of the NAU and ask questions. The farmers’ day was concluded with a “Public Relations Dinner” which was attended by leaders of the community which included inter alia the Town Clerk of Gobabis, Regional Councilors, etc. During this opportunity the Gobabis RAU made a further contribution towards the street children project by giving a donation of ± 1 500kg maize meal, 750kg beans and 500kg groundnuts for a total value of N$12 000 to the coordinator, Pastor Olwage
