President Denis Sassou-Nguesso came to Namibia for a state visit and to strengthen economic ties. He offered a joint venture to Namibia to expand a Congolese oil refinery so that Namibia could then import fuel. Following bilateral discussions, three agreements were signed on Tuesday: on higher education and technical training, on the protection of investments and on trade cooperation. Sassou-Nguesso and his delegation travelled to the coast on Wednesday to visit a fish factory and a salt refinery at Walvis Bay. Thursday he visited Namibia’s largest meat factory in Windhoek and a diamond cutting and polishing plant before returning home.  Photo: PLUS
