Elwiwa, Edelstahlbau cc and Elsumo - involvement in SADC Friday 27th of July 2007 Originally a family business estab-lished in 1913 in Klein Windhoek, ELWIWA today can proudly look back onto 94 years of experience. With their knowledge in rural -, domestic - and states water supply with electric -, diesel -, photo voltaic - and wind-energy driven units, they have become a very important enterprise all over Southern Africa.Together with the partner companies EDELSTAHLBAU cc and ELSUMO (Pty) Ltd (the South Afri-can operation solely owned by the Geiger family), they have an enormous source of professional and highly skilled staff to design, plan, manu-facture and supervise projects under the above-mentioned headings. From their own premises with well equipped computerised offices, machine shops, test bay, workshop and mobile equipment, they can offer an excellent service. The knowhow, commitment and involvement in Southern Africa brought ELWIWA to Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Namibia with projects like river pump stations in Kavango and Caprivi, State water schemes along the Kavango River, water supply and storage in the Ovambo speaking regions, equipping boreholes on the trek route from Ghanzi to Lobatze in botswana, alternative water supply by means of windmills or photo-voltaic powered pumps. This company can proudly look at a record for more than 2000 boreholes installed since 1974. Design and supply of irrigation schemes and sewage pump stations with thrash lift systems throughout the region - that is just part of what ELWIWA has become famous for. One of the bigger projects was the Berg Aukas Mine dewatering station, where they designed, planned, supplied and erected a turn key project of four pumps 465 kW, 6,6 kV of 100 l/s at 310 mwh. In Kavango they built the whole package: civil works of an 8 meter underground water tight structure with 6 x 132 kW electric driven centrifugal pumps with a total capacity of 2000 m3/h fully PLC controlled to irrigate 1000 hectare of land. And for the City of Windhoek, the Cemetary Pump Station was com-pleted: 3 x 500 kW split casing pumps with a capacity of 1200 m3/h complete with VSD (variable speed drive) and PLC controlled. All steel and alloyed steel products are manufactured in the company’s own workshop of EDELSTAHL-BAU. The product range covers the following sectors: Orbit spiral lift pumps and pro-gressive cavity pumps, better known as the MONO pump; Elsub, a range of 4” and 6” deep well pumps for the domestic, agricultural and bulk water supply market with high efficiencies and very economical prices. E-Tech the full stainless steel multi stage centrifugal deep well pump for the demanding and high-tech market. This range of pumps beats all speci-fication and standards by far. The company has its own range of submersible motors for the borehole industry, the Elsumo/ Tesla sub-mersible motors from as small as .37 kW to 250 kW. The absolute alternative in the Southern African Market. Alma the ultimate non clogging vortex impeller sewage pump. Caprari, submersible pumps for sewage, dewatering and deep well pumps; The Elsumo-range of booster pumps in compact block form from .4 kW to 75 kW for the air-conditioning industry and the agricultural market. A whole range of compact sewage treatment plants for the small domestic market like guest farms, small communities up to 160 PE (person equivalent) are produced in type of container packages. As well as compact containerised treatment plants for potable water with capacities to 25 m3/h. Projects for a better environment! ELWIWA technique is a contribution to lower the building and running costs of pumping installations. As the owner, Helmut Geiger said: „You can trust in our experience“ The owner, Helmut Geiger and some of his staff members. Elwiwa is a true Namibian jewel in the Northern Industries Area |
