On Saturday 23 June 2007 the Tour and Safari Association of Namibia (TASA) held its Annual General Meeting at the Fürstenhof Hotel in Windhoek.  The event was well attended by Members of the Association, as well as other stakeholders in the tourism industry, who discussed a variety of issues related to the industry.
TASA Chairman, Mr. Dave van Smeerdijk reminded TASA Members of the successes achieved by the TASA Board over the last 15 years.  TASA continues as a strong lobby with the public tourism sector and continues to push for changes advantageous to members.  By actively engaging and interacting with Government on issues ranging from safety and security to park fees and access times, TASA has facilitated a more fluid system for visitors to appreciate the real value of Namibia - its magnificent wildlife and natural environment.
TASA, in the spirit of the Tourism Transformation Charter, offered BBEE Membership to 8 new operators, and provides continued support and mentorship to them. In addition TASA offers 4 NATH (Namibian Academy of Tourism and Hospitality) bursaries and works closely with the NTB (Namibian Tourism Board) and other private sector Associations.
