Big plans for Witvlei

Mr Sidney Martin, well known businessman and Executive Chairman of the abattoir at Witvlei, this week announced that an investment between N$240 and N$250 million will be done in a feeding pen at Witvlei. According to a report in the Republikein of Tuesday, July 24, 2007 the feeding pen will be expected to accommodate up to 50 000 cattle at a time.
Witvlei Abattoir in the meantime also got official export status to the European Union and plan to export 2 000 ton meat to Europe before the end of the year. Apart from the European market Witvlei Meat plans to export between 600 and 800 ton meat to the Norwegian market for which there is a joint quota of 2 800 ton for Namibia, Botswana, Zimbambwe and Swaziland.
Witvlei Meat also plans to pay a premium for certain grades meat and will producers receive their money on Fridays within 14 days per electronic payments.
