The CEO of FNB Namibia Holdings, Adv. Vekuii Rukoro expressed sincere condolences heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the Chairman of the FNB Holdings Board, Mr. Dieter Voigts, Management and staff at the death of the late Mr. Desmond O’Neil Mathews on 27 June 2007.
Mr. Mathews, or ‘Uncle Des’ as he was affectionately known amongst his colleagues, was associated with Swabou Life and its group of companies since the inception of the holdings company. “He served on the Swabou Group Board, the Swabou Insurance Board and the Swabou Life Board as director for as long as anyone here can remember,” Adv. Rukoro said of the long serving board director.
The late Mathews owned and worked for the Trust and Mining Company. For the past fifteen years before his death, he was the Chairman of the Boards of the Swabou Group, Swabou Life and Swabou Insurance companies. “My heartfelt condolences go to the bereaved family of the late Uncle Des. He will certainly be sorely missed not only by us, the FNB family, but also by many business executives and captains of industry he shared his experiences with in the Chamber of Mines,” the FNB Group CEO concluded.
