Brahman Bull “Fires” sold for N$ 80 000 at National Auction Friday 24th of August 2007 The Agra/Standard Bank Ring set the scene when N$80 000 was paid for a Brahman bull at the National Brahman Auction that took place on Tuesday, 21 August 2007. Andre Compion of Windhoek paid the highest price for a Brahman bull at the Agra auction. According to Kiep Lepen, Agra’s Manager of Stud Services, the breed is of exceptional high quality and all the bulls that came under the hammer, were of great genetic material.The bull, by name Fires, came from the St Blaize Brahman Stud of Cobus van der Merwe of Gobabis. The St Blaize Brahman Stud is known for their exceptional breeding qualities and is the product of a breeding policy that focuses on fertility, precocity, growth and adaptability. St Blaize Brahman Stud was first established in 1972 when Cobus’s father, Louis van der Merwe had the first Brahmans settled on their farm. Since 2002, Cobus van der Merwe took over the complete management of the Brahman Stud from his father, Louis. 20 Brahman bulls were sold for an average price of N$29 800 “Fires” by name was sold for an excellent N$80 000.
