Friday 7th of September 2007 On 13 September 2007 during the one hundred year anniversary of the introduction of Karakul Farming in back Namibia (then German South West Africa) a monument will be unveiled in Keetmanshoop at 16h00. The monument was designed and sculpted by the 23 year old sculptor CRISTINA SALVOLDI. She was born in Windhoek and went to school in the DHPS. She now lives in Cape Town. The monument portraits a Nama shepherd holding a new-born lamb and a fully grown karakul ram standing next to the shepherd. The bronze sculpture is a little more than life size being 2 metres tall. The sculpture was founded by a foundry in Strand. |
