José Antonio Ferreira resigns with immediate effect Friday 7th of September 2007 MTC Namibia’s back MTC Namibia regrettably announces the resignation of its Managing Director, Mr. José Antonio Ferreira with effect from 17 September 2007. Mr. Ferreira cited personal and family reasons for his departure from MTC and Namibia to his native Portugal. A new Managing Director for MTC will be announced by Portugal Telecom in line with the provisions of the shareholders’ agreement between Portugal Telecom and the Namibian government (through Nampost Telecom Holdings Ltd). Mr. Ferreira’s parting comments were: “After one year of hard and challenging work, the time has come to leave MTC and Namibia. Everything in life comes to an end! It is now time to go back to Portugal and have the opportunity to spend more time with my daughters, family and friends. I take with me all the good memories of working with MTC and the challenges that we have faced as a team.” Mr. Ferreira has been in the employ of MTC since 1 September 2006. Portugal Telecom holds 34% of MTC Namibia and also the management contract which allows for 2 senior managerial positions as well. The balance of 66% is owned by the Namibian government through NamPost Telecom Holdings Ltd (NPTH). |
