A group of 56 students from Goju Ryu Karate Namibia represented Namibia at the I.O.G.K.F Africa Karate Championships in Stellenbosch, South Africa, on the 25 August 2007.
The Namibian Goju Ryu team almost doubled the medals of last year by obtaining 36 medals which is 16 more than last year. (This year they won 11 Gold, 16 Silver, 9 Bronze + 8  fourth places in comparison to last year 20 medals – 8 Gold, 5 Silver, 7 Bronze + 7 fourth places.)  The standard of the Namibian team was extremely high which was proven by the Black Belt team who obtained silver medals this year and Stefan van der Merwe who won his division for the fifth consecutive year.
Karateka have to win both Kata and Kumite disciplines in order to win a medal.
A true fourth place is also determined by die winners/losers pool draw sheet system.
