After an approach by a “Kleingroep Aksie” (a handful of concerned citizens who identified a needy crèche in Katatura) to assist them in equipping the “Children’s’ Hope” Day care in Katatura, the Lions Club Windhoek allocated about N$7,000.00 dollars to this cause. The money used was from the 2006 Toy Run Project. The first need that was identified was for tables and chairs for the children to work at and these were delivered to the Children’s Hope day care on Tuesday 4 September 2007.

from left to right at the back: Marianne Roeder (from the Windhoek Lions Club), Annemie and Brian van Rensburg, Daanie Retief (all 3 from the Kleingroep Aksie), Emmie Veldskoen – the caretaker of the children, and on the left Pieter Lingenfelder – also from the Kleingroep Aksie team. In front are 15 of the 24 children that Emmie cares for daily with the tables and chairs bought for them with the Lions’ assistance. Four of these are orphaned and Emmie looks after them
permanently.
