MTC Namibia, the first and leading mobile operator in Namibia announces the appointment of Mr. António Miguel Ferreira Geraldes as the new Managing Director with effect from 17 September 2007.  Mr. Geraldes replaces Mr. Antonio Ferreira who was the company’s Managing Director for the past 12 months but who recently returned to Portugal for personal and family reasons.
Mr. Geraldes is a professional engineer who brings over 10 years experience in the telecommunications sector to MTC.  He has mainly worked for TMN, a mobile operator which is part of the Portugal Telecom stable.   
Since 1997, Mr. Geraldes has been involved in the commercial area of TMN in various capacities. 
Since July 2006, “Director” of Data and Content Unit at TMN;
Since February 2005, “Director” of Consumer Business Unit at TMN;
Since February 2003, “Assistant Director” responsible for Marketing of Products and Services of Consumer Business Unit at TMN;
Since April 1999, “Head of Department” Indirect Distribution Network of Consumer Business Unit at TMN;
Since April 1997 “Key Account Manager” Indirect Distribution Network of Consumer Business Unit at TMN;  
Amongst his key achievements to date, Mr. Geraldes boasts a remarkable growth in revenues of 82% during the past 12 months alone as the Head of the TMN Data and Contents Unit.
With his extensive experience in the deployment of innovative services and creative pricing campaigns, Miguel says that “as head of the illustrious management team at MTC we will ensure that MTC maintains its market leadership position in the newly competitive Namibian mobile market.”  He further remarks that “Namibian consumers are poised for very exciting times ahead and we will ensure that we provide world-class, future proof technologies and communications solutions that are relevant to the Namibian market.”

Miguel Geraldes holds an MBA from OPorto Business School (EGP), a Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering from Coimbra University and a Bachelor Degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from the Military Institute “Pupilos do Exército”.
 Miguel is married with 2 children.
