Marike Meyer (Dolphins) was perhaps the star at the Strand Winter Gala, collecting two bronze medals and setting a record which had been behind the name of famous Monica Dahl. Daniela Lindemeier also collected two bronze medals and she, too, broke a record. Gunther Streit won two silver and one bronze medal. Ten Namibians took part in Strand: Thomasu Forbes (Swakop Swimminfg Club), Benita Preschel, Daniela Lindemeier, Tanya Lumley (Spartans), Antione Agenbach, Edith Wasserfall, Helena Reed, Marike Meyer, Stefan van Zyl, Alexandra Agenbach, Lise Wasserfall, Nolene Louw, Ilke Preschel and Vernon Steenkamp (Dolphins) and Gunther Streit, Sheena Schwartz, Danielle van Zyl and Zindzi Schwartz (Marlins).
