Saturday 6th of October 2007 The Namibia National Farmers Union (NNFU) commissioned a study with the assistance of RAISON Namibia under the leadership of Mr. John Mendelsohn in 2005 and the findings of the study were officially launched last year at the NNFU Information Week. The study was aimed at to find out how successful farmers manage to farm successfully in Namibia’s dry climatic conditions. The study was also aimed at identifying the various types of farming systems in Namibia, and how these could be used by upcoming farmers. The NNFU and the author of the book, Mr. John Mendelsohn donated 800 copies of the book ‘Farming Systems in Namibia’ to the Ministry of Education for dissemination to schools, libraries, colleges of education and agriculture, University of Namibia and the Polytechnic of Namibia and other tertiary institutions. The study was funded by the French Embassy in Namibia.
