The Namibian Police at Arandis Police Station now have an additional vehicle to their fleet and a computer to be used in the process of combating crime in Arandis. The generous support came from the Rössing Uranium Mine.
Rössing Uranium donated a VW Golf car and computer equipment to the Namibian Police at Arandis earlier this week to assist the Arandis police force in the execution of their work.
Speaking at the handover event, Rössing Uranium’s Manager External Affairs, Jerome Mutumba, said: “We know that Arandis is becoming a fast growing town, both socially and economically, and with this expected growth the work of the national police force in the town becomes imperative. Thus there is need to rededicate police effort to deliver quality services to the community.”
“On behalf of Rössing Uranium and in particular the Arandis community, I thank the Namibian Police for the excellent work that they are doing in Arandis to maintain law and order. Rössing remains committed to the upliftment of the socio-economic conditions of the communities within which it operates.” The total donation is valued at around N$50 000.
Jerome said further that Rössing has invested significantly in Namibia over its more than 30 years of existence. The company’s corporate social investment programme focuses on donation and sponsorship programmes, especially towards the local community of Arandis where the Rössing Foundation is involved in various programmes in educational assistance for local government, schools, businesses and residents.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Namibian Police were the Chief Inspector of the Swakopmund Police, Ottilie Kashuupulwa and Arandis Police Station Commander, Warrant
Officer Erich Nghaamwe.
Chief Inspector Kashuupulwa said that the Namibian Police welcomed the donation and thanked Rossing for their support and partnership.
“In our communities crime is with us but we have declared war against criminals and their activities. In the Erongo region our slogan is: ‘Make Erongo Safe’ and I urge every resident
to co-operate with the police to stop crime.”
She promised Rössing that the equipment will be put to good use in patrol work to protect the community and to make Arandis crime free.

Rössing donated a red VW Golf, previously used at the mine, and computer equipment to the Arandis Police Station for use in the execution of their work in the Arandis community.
