Brewing giant Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL), a member of the Ohlthaver & List Group, announced today that Desmond van Jaarsveld, currently the Managing Director of Namibia Dairies (Pty) Ltd, has been appointed to succeed Ciaran Duffy as Managing Director of NBL effective 01 August 2008. The new appointment was necessitated by the recent resignation of Ciaran Duffy due to health reasons.
No stranger to NBL, and a born and raised “Walvisbaaier” Van Jaarsveld had previously served as NBL’s Group Product Development Manager for six years prior to joining Namibia Dairies as Managing Director in 2005.
NBL’s Chairman Sven Thieme said: “Desmond has had a successful term at Namibia Dairies having turned the company from a loss maker to a company that has exceeded its financial targets in one of the most challenging industries. I thank Des-mond for these significant contributions to Namibia Dairies, and I am confident that he will lead NBL with the same diligence and determination in its endeavour to become a world class company and that he will continue contributing to the success of the entire Ohlthaver & List Group.”
The company said that Bruce Kidner, newly appointed Head of Finance at NBL, will in the interim continue to be acting in this role until Van Jaarsveld’s appointment takes effect.
