No substitute for the 6:1 scheme is made known yet. The recommendations of the Meat Board for a new model has been referred by the Minister of Agriculture to the Implementations and Monitoring Committee under chairmanship of Dr Malan Lindeque, the Permanent Secretary of Trade and Industry. This committee must make a recommendation to the relevant Ministers (Agriculture, Trade and Finance) for final submission to Cabinet. Dr Lindeque was in Botswana.  The committee will hopefully meet soon.
The president of the NAU, Mr Raimar von Hase telephonically spoke  to the Minister of Agriculture and Dr Lindque and both realise the urgency to take a decision and to conclude the process.
