At long last the Namib i Publicity and Tourism Association and Walvis i will have the Permits for the Namib Naukluft Park available over weekends and also throughout the week. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism has agreed that these two non-profit tourism organisations will offer the permits in an effort to serve the tourism industry and make sure that the Namib Naukluft Park, being a mayor tourism attraction, is also open to the public over weekends. Permission was granted to Namib i and Walvis i on the grounds that these are the official information centres for Swakopmund and Walvis Bay respectively and will be offering these permits without handling charges.

The permits will be available as from Thursday, 17 July 2003, at both Namib i and Walvis i. Namib i is open over the weekends at the following times:

Saturday 9h00-13h00 and 15h30-17h30

Sundays and Public Holidays (excluding 25 December and 1 January) 9h30-13h00

The Walvis i office is open on Saturdays from 9h00-13h00. However, for emergencies only a cellnumber is displayed on the front door for other hours.

Both centres also stock copies of the leaflets for the Welwitschia Route which are sold at the rate of N$3.- each.
