The Lions club of Windhoek assisted in the arrangements for a Mid-winter walk for senior citizens on the 22 June. It was held just outside Windhoek and was very well attended by all age groups and some really well behaved dogs.
Erika Steer initiated the idea and would like to have the next walk in September. The idea would be to arrange this at least three times a year.
The walks are in aid of the Benefiz Account for senior citizens who cannot afford the old age homes. It falls under the same project as the Film Shows being held once a month at the Auditorium at Bougain Villas. We have already donated the first N$10 000 to Susanne Grau Heim as they have 4 pensioners who are not able to pay the full amount. As soon as the next N$10 000 is available the next donation will be made, probably to Oude Rust for the same reason.
