The Bank of Namibia will collect all N$ 20 notes that have been issued in February 2002 in order to destroy them. According to the BoN’s deputy governor, Mr Paul Hartmann, the magnetic thread on those Namibian dollar notes has come loose and is breaking. The silvery and shimmering thread is a safety device to avoid counterfeiting. The overseas company that had manufactured those bank notes would replace them at their cost, Hartmann told journalists on Wednesday.
