Thursday 27th of February 2003 Premier League news After two weeks of not being active in the league, the championships-contender in the Premier League, Civics C.C. will have to prove themselves that they are also strong candidates of winning this years lucrative NFA-Cup. The preparations for this important encounterstarting this coming Saturday against the winner of the game between Tough Guys and Young Ones in Gobabis, went well. Last weekend our Reserve side played against Eleven Arrows in Walvis Bay and they convincingly beat them by 3:1. The goals were scored by Kayo Munyaza, as well as U-23 national player Franklin April and Robson Haitamba. Our first team played against Blue Waters. Unfortunately this game was overshadowed by extremely poor refereeing and the game was nearly stopped when things got out of control. However, our guys put up an excellent performance and team spirit in the second half with only 9 players on the field. Blue Waters was very lucky to win this game 2:1. New signing Costa Khaiseb scored the deserved goal for the „Civilians". We wish the entire Civics management and the players good luck for this coming NFA-Cup match on Saturday 12.00 in Gobabis. Never forget that: Victory is always our duty! Our professional goalkeeper coach Ulf Graef from Germany arrived last week to assist our Headcoach Helmuth Scharnowski and Assistant coach Sylvester Stuurmann. His main duty is to develop and shape up our Goalkeepers so that they become the best Keepers in Namibia in and of the field.
Unam Civilians - You make us proud! Unam Civilians as the team is known, was formed last year, in December 2002. This happenend as some women from the University of Namibia (Unam) approached the Directors of Civics C.C. and Buschschule Mr. Helmuth Scharnowski. and Dr. Aga-tha Pillmannova. After consultation between these two parties (Unam and Buschschule), the Buschschule Namibia, as oficial sponsor of Civics C.C., decided to conduct this project as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. This team has its own new technical structure. The technical staff consists of the following members: Mr.Freddy Tlhabanello – Headcoach, Mr. Cascas Angula – Assistant Coach, Mr. Denzyl Bruwer – Goalkeeper Coach, Mr. Golla van Staden – Technical Advisor, Mrs. Jacky Shipanga – Team captain Obviously the team consists of many potentially talented ladies who range from Unam and attending school going girls. Thus far this team has not participated in real competitive games apart from taking part in the current seven-a-side-tournament. Here our ladies are clearly dominating the tournamnet. So far the first and our second team won all games without conceding any golas. Well done, Unam Civilians, you make us very proud.!!! The Unam Civilians however are frustrated because they didn´t get friendly games to play. But now the technical staff succeeded in arranging for them to play a friendly match next week Saturday (14.00) against the Okahandja XI womens team. Everybody is hereby invited to witness for themselves the skilful display of these emulative ladies. |
