Hangana and UFON Sign Agreement

Hangana Seafood (PTY)LTD and the United Fishermen’s Union of Namibia (UFON), announce the signing of a "wage and conditions of employment agreement" on Friday, 22 August 2003.

The two-year-agreement is backdated to 16 April 2003 and supersedes the previous one. Therein, it stipulates the bargaining unit as the company’s mates employed on the wet-fish trawlers. We have agreed upon an amicable wage-increase, and the further improvement of the conditions of employment. We regret that we can not elaborate on these at this point in time. However, further announcements will be made in due time.

Our agreement will foster the employer/employee relationship at Hangana Seafood. Moreover, it constitutes a key achievement for us, as we embark upon to enhance the company’s position in the world-markets.

Hangana Seafood is a prominent corporate citizen of Namibia, and the Walvis Bay community. As Namibia’s second largest producer of white fish, Hangana Seafood exports its high-quality products to Europe, and increasingly, North America.
