203 children from 38 schools in Namibia took part in the finals of the Standard Bank Junior Chess Tournament. The event was held at the St.Andrew’s Primary School in Windhoek. It took eight rounds of chess to determine the winners in both the primary and secondary divisions.

The winner of the primary school section was Mandandi Mukwena from the Emma Hoogenhout Primary School (grade 4) with full points. Sharing second place with seven out of eight were Peter Zaaruka from Martti Ahtisaari Primary School and Johnny Steinback from Pioneerspark Primary School.

Wynand Oosthuizen from Windhoek High School won the senior section obtainig full points. Reuben Beukes came second with seven out of eight possible points.
