Friday 10th of October 2003 After the By-Election in Windhoek-West, the Republican Party of Namibia released the following press statement, issued by H.F. Mudge, Acting Leader & Chairman: The Republican Party is extremely satisfied with what the party has managed to achieve. The RP secured twice as many votes as the DTA, who is supposed to represent 11 political parties and almost as many votes as the CoD. All this within 4 weeks since the RP‘s registration! there can be no doubt that Swapo gained on the DTA as well as the CoD, most probably due to the poor performance of the two parties over the past years. When the DTA experiences problems, it usually relies on its Herero support base mostly by issuing irresponsible statements. We trust that, amongst others, the Herero community will not allow the DTA to misuse them anymore. The Republican Party is here to stay and will make a positive contribution politically. Specialist committees consisting of experts in their fields will be appointed to come up with solutions for the burning issues we currently experience. This will then be discussed with Government. Ignorance and wrong perceptions will be addressed and the population will be well informed. Poverty and unemployment are sources of great concern and will only be properly dealt with once we experience a healthy national economy. |
