Saturday 31st of January 2004 A South African investor accuses the Namibian government of fraud, theft, and perjury in 294 cases against 32 people with regard to a mining exploration licence. Namibian Metals through its proprietor, Barry Keyter, claims that the mining licence to erect a silicon plant outside Omaruru, was cancelled by mining minister Jesaya Nyamu only 3 months after its was issued. In a statement released this week, Mr Keyter seriously accuses the minister, his former deputy, Immanuel Ngatjizeko, and close relatives of President Sam Nujoma of allegedly acquiring business plans and intellectual property of Namibian Metals as well as the mineral licence. The 2 companies accused of this are Ozondje Mining and Sub Sahara Investments & Consulting, which owns 30 % of Ozondje. On 23 November 2003 already, PLUS broke the story after a letter to all member so of parliament, written by Keyter had been distributed during the last session for 2003. Therein Keyter revealed that Windhoek mayor, Matheus Shikongo and Brigadier James Auala are allegedly some of the shareholders of Sub Sahara Investment & Consultants. |
